Subject: Treaty of Utrecht, blah blah blah...
Time: 21:45 pm
I've written over 2000 words today, but I know that is only because it was my day off and tomorrow I will hardly have any time to write at ALL. But! I still feel really good about everything I've written, and I've learned a helluva lot about the 18th century that I'm sure no one else cares about.
Oh shit, son. |

So I'm sitting around, thinking about how I should take a break from stressing out over my NaNo, when I think to myself, "Hey, wouldn't it be awesome if someone did an orchestral cover of The Final Countdown?" And so I googled it, and....
GOD, IT'S FUCKING AWESOME. I LOVE YOU, INTERNETS, AND I LOVE THOSE GUYS. |

Wow! I'm not dead!
In the time since I last updated, the following things have happened:
I bought a new car, signed up for NaNo, have gone through several management changes at work, bought tickets to see Garrison Keillor next month, watched Being Human, and began reading both Sherlock Holmes and Horatio Hornblower.
My step-brother also got swine flu, and Deana narrowly avoided having to move to Texas.
So, how is everyone else? |

Time: 23:31 pm
So, A Death in the Family is on it's way to the store from the warehouse, and I'm hoping it'll be there by Monday or Tuesday. I bought the novelization of No Man's Land tonight, and do you know how much I paid for it? $1.78, bitches! Merry Christmas to me. Gail, if this book sucks, I'm blaming you. So between that and The Killing Joke, I am all set for DragonCon! Woohoo!
Also, Talia has made the most delicious grits I've ever eaten in my life. OM NOM NOM. |

Subject: Batman ramblings.
Time: 10:17 am
So I'm trying to figure out what to bring with me to DragonCon, because clearly I am going to get a lot of reading done sitting in line at 6am waiting for four hours to see William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy fuck yes bitches. I'm bringing Talia's copy of The Killing Joke, and I was thinking about bringing the first volume of Batman Showcase, but as funny as the old Detective comics are, I don't think I can read them for hours straight. I really wanted to bring A Death in the Family, but our store sold our only copy (the DAY after I saw it on the shelf and considered getting it). I also wanted to bring Gotham Underground, but our only copy has gone missing. We haven't sold it or returned it, but it's not on the shelf, it's not in the back, and I have looked all over the store and cannot find it. I told the inventory supervisor that it's missing, and cried, "What if someone stole it?!" To which he shrugged and said, "Just keep an eye out for it." He doesn't seem to understand that this is an emergency. I need that comic.
I also really, really, really want to read No Man's Land, but the graphic novel format isn't out yet.... which is bizarre, because the novelization is and we have it in the store. I don't think I can read it, because I read some scans of the comic online, and the transition between formats is a little disconcerting.
My only other options are Knightfall, which looks kinda iffy, and The Dark Knight Returns, which is by Frank Miller. Frank Miller and I are not on speaking terms right now. I read his Year One, which was really good, but then I read All-Star Batman and Robin, and it was godawful. The whole "I'm the goddamn Batman" joke was funny the first time, but after the fifth or sixth time, it gets old. Not to mention his Batman is bizarrely chatty. It felt extremely out-of-character. (I loved Robin, though. "Why is there a giant robot dinosaur in the batcave?")
Actually, I have one other option, which is RIP Batman, and I'm definitely not ready for that yet.
AAAAAAAAUGH WHAT AM I GOING TO READ? |

Time: 17:16 pm
Last night, I had a dream that Jason Momoa got arrested for claiming to be Batman.
Alfred called Bruce to inform him.
Bruce said, "What? But we're not even the same complexion!"
Alfred said that, nevertheless, he had hospitalized several of Gotham's finest.
Bruce just groaned.
After that, I had a dream that Toshiko Sato wasn't dead. |

New embarassing moment of the now: collapsing while helping a customer reserve a book. Seriously, one minute I'm typing his address into the computer, the next I'm on the floor and I can't see or hear. I didn't completely pass out, I don't think, but I came close.
Edit: I would do an actual update, but I don't think you all want to hear my critical analysis of every Batman comic in the store.
Edit, again: Hey, guys, I'm okay. This is not something that hasn't happened before. I mentioned it because it was embarassing that it happened in front of a customer. I'm hypoglycemic, and while I'm usually more careful about my eating habits, I had been feeling sick and came home and went to bed the night before without eating. It was a stupid mistake, partially due to having a head cold, but I didn't pass out for no apparent reason. |
