OMG, that post is sooo scary! i mean, i have fandom tattoos but at least my fandom has been around for more than 40 years. and i have them in places that i can actually conceal if i have to. but those people ... ARGH!

OH MY GOD. There are a couple that don't look too bad, but most of the ones with the combined logos are shitty, and the ones with the faces are terrible. Also, the one with the paragraph of text on her back that you can't read should sue her tattoo artist.

Everytime I think I'd love a tattoo I see something like this and my entire skin tries to crawl off my body and hide. Don't worry, skin, I would never do anything like that to you.

I finally got to see them.

I have, for years, wanted a tattoo of the StarGate symbol for Earth (like this), but small and on the back of my right shoulder blade. And it's something that I've given a lot of thought- I've been in love with StarGate since I was about eleven. The only reason I haven't done it yet is because I owe some people money, and I would feel guilty spending money on my tattoo when I need to pay them back. I don't have a problem with fannish tattoos, I have a problem with crappy fannish tattoos. (I do really love Stormy's tattoos.)

It's entirely possible that they got that one before the movie was made, and so it was generally supposed to look like the description of the character in the books. Now, I don't know what that description is, but I'm trying to give that one the benefit of the doubt.

There was a little conversation in the living room the other day that went something like this:

See, it's funny when he says it. I had a friend who said that to me, in all seriousness, and I flipped my shit. "Do you have any idea what it's like to be homosexual and get nothing but heterosexual heroes in the media of your choice? I don't care about Queer as Folk or Will & Grace, I watch science fiction, how come there are no gays in science fiction? Can't I have my one gay hero?!"

There was a lot of screaming. She never brought it up again.
