So I'm trying to figure out what to bring with me to DragonCon, because clearly I am going to get a lot of reading done <strike>sitting in line at 6am waiting for four hours to see William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy fuck yes bitches</strike>. I'm bringing Talia's copy of The Killing Joke, and I was thinking about bringing the first volume of Batman Showcase, but as funny as the old Detective comics are, I don't think I can read them for hours straight. I really wanted to bring A Death in the Family, but our store sold our only copy (the DAY after I saw it on the shelf and considered getting it). I also wanted to bring Gotham Underground, but our only copy has gone missing. We haven't sold it or returned it, but it's not on the shelf, it's not in the back, and I have looked all over the store and cannot find it. I told the inventory supervisor that it's missing, and cried, "What if someone stole it?!" To which he shrugged and said, "Just keep an eye out for it." He doesn't seem to understand that this is an emergency. I need that comic.

I also really, really, really want to read No Man's Land, but the graphic novel format isn't out yet.... which is bizarre, because the novelization is and we have it in the store. I don't think I can read it, because I read some scans of the comic online, and the transition between formats is a little disconcerting.

My only other options are Knightfall, which looks kinda iffy, and The Dark Knight Returns, which is by Frank Miller. Frank Miller and I are not on speaking terms right now. I read his Year One, which was really good, but then I read All-Star Batman and Robin, and it was godawful. The whole "I'm the goddamn Batman" joke was funny the first time, but after the fifth or sixth time, it gets old. Not to mention his Batman is bizarrely chatty. It felt extremely out-of-character. (I loved Robin, though. "Why is there a giant robot dinosaur in the batcave?")

Actually, I have one other option, which is RIP Batman, and I'm definitely not ready for that yet.

AAAAAAAAUGH WHAT AM I GOING TO READ?

So the weird thing about this dream is that I started out as someone else, and then gradually became myself. I don't know who I was in the beginning of the dream, but I was going to the opera with Bruce Wayne. I'm pretty sure I wasn't some random arm-ornament of the evening, because I recall being aware that he was Batman. Anyways, just as he was picking me up to take me to the opera, I had to run back into my apartment or whatever for my contacts. I ran inside and up the stairs, into the apartment and into the bathroom, and just as I was about to grab the container off the back of the sink, I looked in the mirror and thought, "Contacts... wait... I don't wear contacts. I don't even wear glasses!" And that's when I went from being whoever to being me. I think I ran back outside, confused. I'm not sure what happened at the opera.

Later on, though, someone robbed a bank and kidnapped Gordon's son. And then I woke up.

I mean, of course Batman's going to rescue him, so it's not THAT bad a cliffhanger.

I don't even wear glasses, though!

Edit: So I just realised that I never posted about the FIRST weird Batman dream I had, which was about a year or so ago.

So the first time I recall dreaming about Batman, I dreamt that Bruce was little (maybe 8 or 9? shortly before his parents died?) and his parents were having a huge dinner party. Bruce had snuck into his father's study and was poking around when someone else entered the study. Bruce hid in a cabinet (a big, tall, wooden one) and overheard two people talking about some plan to frame his father or something. I woke up when he was still in the cabinet, trying not to be discovered.

I think I've been reading too much Batman lately, because

So, it took place after Gordon divorced his first wife, and he was living alone in an apartment. He had a kitten that he had either found or that someone had given him. (It was black and actually looked a bit like Anabel when he was a baby.) I don't remember what he named it, but I remember that it would come when he called it's name.

Anyway, one night, he's laying down to go to sleep and he calls the cat's name (because it likes to sleep next to him, I suppose), but the cat doesn't come. He calls a couple more times, still no cat. He shrugs and figures it's off playing with a bug or something, and closes his eyes to go to sleep.

Then Catwoman breaks into his apartment and strangles him to death. Yeah, IDK where Batman was.

D:

Also, during the same period of sleep, I had another dream that there was ANOTHER unaired pilot of Heroes, only it was completely different from the actual two in existence and I'm not sure what relevance it had to the rest of the show. The last scene, however, was of a little dead black sparrow lying on the concrete, and I kept trying to figure out what the significance of that was. I kept trying to attribute it to Linderman, but that doesn't make any sense. 0_o

Also also, I saw the trailer for the new Sherlock Holmes film, and it looks fucking awesome! FUCK YEAH!

What is it with Robert Downey, Jr. being in all the movies I'm watching/want to see lately? I mean, other than the fact that he's AWESOME?
